Top Flooring Trends in Denton, Keller & Frisco Homes for 2026

What North Texas Homeowners Are Choosing for Their Floors Right Now

Flooring trends in Denton, Keller, and Frisco have evolved significantly over the past few years — and the direction is clear. The cold gray tones that dominated North Texas homes throughout the 2010s have given way to something warmer, richer, and more personal. Here's what our design team at Simmons Floor Covering is seeing in the showroom and in the homes we're currently working on across the DFW area.

Trend #1: Warm Wood Tones Are Everywhere

The gray LVP and gray-washed hardwood that defined North Texas interiors for years is being replaced decisively by warm wood tones. White oak with its natural warm undertones, honey-toned ash, and amber-inflected woods are appearing across new installations and remodels throughout Denton County.

This shift connects to a broader design movement toward warmer, more inviting interiors — away from the clinical, gray-everything aesthetic that felt fresh in 2012 and dated by 2022. The warm wood trend works beautifully with the two-tone cabinet colors, unlacquered brass hardware, and natural stone countertops that are dominating kitchen and bathroom remodels. Our COREtec Plus line and Karndean Designflooring collection both offer outstanding warm wood options that are performing extremely well in North Texas homes.

Trend #2: Wide Plank Formats

Plank width has been increasing steadily, and in 2026, wide planks — 7 inches and wider — are the dominant choice for both LVP and hardwood installations in North Texas homes. The wider the plank, the more of each individual board's grain and character is visible, creating a more substantial, high-end appearance.

Very wide planks (9–12 inches) create a dramatic, almost architectural statement — particularly in larger open-plan living areas in Keller and Flower Mound homes with high ceilings. They also create fewer seam lines across a room, giving the floor a cleaner, more expansive feel. Narrow 3-inch strip flooring, which was the standard for decades, now reads as dated in new or renovated North Texas homes.

Trend #3: Large-Format Tile — Bigger, More Minimal

In tiled areas — kitchens, bathrooms, mudrooms, and laundry rooms — the trend toward larger format tile with minimal grout lines continues to accelerate. The 12x12 tile that was ubiquitous in Texas homes for years has been almost entirely replaced by 24x24, 24x48, and even 48x48 formats in higher-end applications.

Large-format tile creates a cleaner, more sophisticated appearance with less visual interruption across a surface. When set with tight grout joints in a matching color, large-format porcelain creates a near-seamless surface that looks extraordinary and is easier to maintain than small tile with wide grout lines. Our American Showcase and American Olean collections include striking large-format options that our Denton clients are choosing at a rapidly increasing rate.

Trend #4: Matte and Satin Finishes Over High-Gloss

The high-gloss hardwood and tile finishes that were premium choices a decade ago have been almost entirely replaced by matte, satin, and honed finishes across the board. This shift is driven by both aesthetic preferences — matte finishes look more contemporary and less formal — and practical realities: matte finishes show scratches, dust, and footprints far less dramatically than high-gloss alternatives.

For hardwood specifically, matte and wire-brushed finishes reveal more of the wood's natural texture and grain while hiding the inevitable wear marks of daily life. For tile, honed and matte porcelain creates a warm, natural stone-like appearance that polished tile can't match. For LVP, embossed matte surfaces provide better traction and look more realistic than smooth glossy products.

Trend #5: Whole-Home Flooring Continuity

One of the most significant whole-home design trends in North Texas is the decision to run a single flooring material continuously throughout the main living level — eliminating the jarring transitions between different flooring types that characterized older home interiors. Open floor plans with the same LVP or hardwood flowing from the entry through the living room, dining room, kitchen, and hallways create a seamless visual expansion of space that buyers and homeowners consistently love.

This trend is driving larger whole-home flooring projects rather than room-by-room replacements — and it's creating stunning transformations for Denton homeowners who take the plunge. Simmons Floor Covering specializes in these whole-home projects, with the selection depth and project management experience to execute continuity across entire main floors flawlessly.

Trend #6: Sustainable and Responsibly Sourced Materials

North Texas homeowners are increasingly asking about the environmental credentials of their flooring choices — particularly in Frisco and Keller, where eco-conscious purchasing is a growing priority. Responsibly sourced hardwood, recycled-content LVP products, and low-VOC flooring options are seeing increased demand. We work with brands that prioritize sustainable sourcing and can point you to specific products that meet environmental standards without compromising on style or performance.

At Simmons Floor Covering & Total Renovations, we are committed to providing excellent customer service with a focus on exceeding their expectations and have been doing it for over 36 years. Serving Denton, Keller, North Richland Hills, Southlake, Colleyville, Frisco, and all surrounding areas.
