Luxury Vinyl Flooring Compared To Laminate Flooring

Armstrong Laminate, Coastal Living Patina, Weathered Beachwood
Luxury Vinyl flooring is made of 100% synthetic material primarily with two cores,
SPC (Stone Plastic Composite) and WPC (Wood Plastic Composite) which has similar, but different traits.

SPC vinyl flooring is stronger and can hold up better to weight, heavy foot traffic and dents, but because of its stone core it can be harder to walk on. WPC vinyl flooring on the other hand is both durable and softer underfoot making it easier to be on for longer periods of time both at home of in the office. Both vinyl flooring types are very similar looking and come in many wood-looking styles, designs, and sizes.

Laminate flooring, as a comparison, has a rigid fiberboard core, which is made from wood byproducts bonded together with melamine resins. Laminate flooring also has a printed design layer covered by hard plastic laminate so it will look like wood, stone, or other natural materials. While laminate flooring can be described as “water resistant”, you’ll need to clean spills immediately to prevent water from seeping into the seams and reaching the core.  If you need waterproof flooring, we highly recommend you go with Luxury Vinyl Plank.
